STALK FEATURE: BLACKDEWA gets STALK’d

“It is a BLOGGER’s ultimate GOAL to COLLABORATE with an INTERNATIONAL BRAND to WIDEN his MARKET and EXPAND his CONNECTIONS”

This is the TRUTH.
The truth that I’ve learned from this young entrepreneur JARROD ADAMS..
Who’s making waves across the fashion industry – one connection at a time.
But for me there’s more to business than just random connections..
It is the FRIENDSHIP that is built through every shoot..
Every interview..
Every writeup..
yeah sounds cheesy but you really could find colleagues with the same level of passion through these connections..
Nowadays connections can be built through different mediums..
One of which is what we call – INSTAGRAM.
INSTAGRAM has truly changed the way people market themselves..
Either their PHOTOGRAPHY..
Their LIFE..
BODY..
TRAVEL..
ART or HOBBY..
This is actually how I’ve gotten to know Jarrod..
Perhaps through the crazy hashtags that I’ve been placing on my posts..
And everything else was HISTORY.

Jarrod has started his own Australian label for about a couple of years now..
A controversial label that he started back in INDONESIA..
He had a few ideas in mind but two ideas stood out..
It has to be RELATABLE w/ an INDEPENDENT feel on it..

Jarrod was actually quite brilliant with the idea of using an upside down cross as his print..
But please don’t get him wrong he respects every religion and is fascinated with it..
(or else I could have turned down this feature.. haha!)
He used it to show the REBEL side of his label..
He wanted to break the mainstream shirt appeal..
And to show people the importance of FREEDOM OF SPEECH..
This is just something that made his label CONTROVERSIAL..
He actually named his label BLACKDEWA which meant “MYSTERIOUS GOD”..
According to his story putting the Indonesian work DEWA which meant GOD with the ENGLISH word BLACK was another controversy..
He had only chosen the word DEWA because he wanted to give back the country who had embraced him so much and helped him become the artist that he truly is ..
And he placed an ENGLISH word BLACK to describe his label as MYSTERIOUS..
(in a good way ofcourse!)

The thing that I admire most with Jarrod is that he is really ASSERTIVE in reaching his dreams..
I remember telling him about plans of mine such us printing my stuff and selling it..
Long and behold a few months after he sent me his printed lookbook..
One time I told him about my favorite male blogger here in the Philippines..
And a few months after this male blogger has posted a look while wearing his label..

Now after a year (if I am right?) of chatting and talking about our passion..
he finally came here in the country to collaborate with STALK!
Yeah cuuuuraaayyzee!
He just recently went to Singapore then here in our country and his last stop Bangkok in the search for fabrics that he could use for his latest collection for his show in an upcoming FASHION WEEK in Australia.. Which just made me so proud of this man!

He had stayed in one of the posh hotels here in the south and a few weeks ago that long wait finally happened!
We worked with STALK’s cover boy David Olson for this collaboration..
And I must say that David improved a lot..
He actually nailed this shot in less than half an hour..
that ROADTRIP all the way to Tagaytay was just epic..

Anyway I am soo proud to show you guys our editorial for Jarrod’s BLACKDEWA..
